VIENNA, VA — Rustic Love’s Court of the Heart signs are prevalent throughout Vienna, and now residents can get unique, artist-painted versions of these signs.
Rustic Love and Vienna Arts Society, two Vienna-based nonprofits, have teamed up for an auction launched on Sunday. The auction includes 20 heart-shaped panels built by Rustic Love volunteers and painted by artists from the Vienna Arts Society.
The auction is a fundraiser for both non-profit organizations. Rustic Love creates wooden heart-shaped signs and donates proceeds to organizations fighting food insecurity, such as One Neighborhood Foundation (created out of Vienna VA Foodies) and Belong. Rustic Love was formed during the COVID-19 pandemic to address food insecurity.
The auction also supports the work of the Vienna Arts Society to promote the arts and contribute to the community. The Vienna Arts Society has been in existence for 53 years and runs art galleries, courses and workshops, and other events.
“This represents [Vienna Art Society’s] first fundraiser since the pandemic closure of the art center and many of our venues,” Lu Elizabeth Cousins, director of the Vienna Arts Society, said in an email to Patch. “We hope for a boost through this online auction as we all continue our community actions, including the World Central Kitchen, nurturing and supporting the displaced Ukrainian community across Europe.”
The fundraiser aims to raise $4,000. The auction will run until noon on July 23.
