The Visual Arts Society is hosting its annual Christmas Arts and Crafts Sale on Saturday, December 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. along the Paseo in Camana Bay.
With social distancing restrictions in place, the market will be limited to 13 tents, but will feature 26 participating artists showcasing their wares. Festive decorative tables covered with a variety of arts and crafts will provide consumers with a unique shopping experience full of great gift ideas.
VAS is a non-profit organization, made up of over 70 local artists, and promotes “art for all”.
The company offers weekly classes and workshops throughout the year, teaching students – among other skills – how to use a potter’s wheel to create ceramic treasures, as well as other tools or manual techniques to build with. clay. Its current oven, after 15 years of use, needs to be replaced, so VAS will be holding a raffle to help raise funds for the purchase of a new oven. Tickets will be on sale under the observation tower from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a chance to win a locally made object donated by participating art vendors.
Mark Muckenfuss, who teaches the ceramics workshop, will be at the market on Saturday, demonstrating his pottery skills. People are encouraged to stop and watch him work to see how much fun it is and learn more about VAS ceramics.
Mary McCallum, Event Coordinator, said, “The Visual Arts Society is sincerely grateful for Camana Bay’s in-kind sponsorships, enabling [it] to continue this annual event. VAS artists look forward to contributing to the island’s Christmas spirit.
