NEW PRESIDENT: Outgoing SCCAS President, Helen Williams, with incoming President, Julie Kelly.

The South Coast Choral and Arts Society (SCCAS) is under new management.

After nine years in the role, SCCAS President Helen Williams has handed over to Julie Kelly.

Helen has been with the Society for nearly 40 years, on stage, behind the scenes and most recently as President. During her tenure as President, she has seen the Society through 13 hit shows, their 70th anniversary celebrations, and a global pandemic.

Although she is stepping down as President, Helen will continue to be an integral part of the Society and will remain a member of the Management Committee.

New President Julie Kelly has served the Society for over 20 years.

Her first show was The Pajama Game (1999) and her most recent The Addams Family (2019) and she was on stage for every musical in between.

Locals will certainly remember some of Julie’s stage appearances, including Mrs Sowerberry in Oliver, Aunty Em in The Wizard of Oz and Grandma Addams in The Addams Family.

Julie has also been involved in the Society’s choral group, served on production teams as an executive assistant, and served as vice-president for several years. Last year, she was named a life member of the Society.

The Society welcomes Julie into the role. Her years of theater and leadership experience will be an asset as the Society moves forward.

The Society is gearing up for its next stage show, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, which will premiere in October 2022. Choir and band concerts are also planned for later in the year.
