After a two-year absence due to the pandemic, the Royston Arts Society will return to City Hall this month with its Fall 2022 exhibition.

During the lockdown, the company held its exhibits online, but visitors will now have the opportunity to view and appreciate the artworks in person.

This year’s exhibition features a wide variety of affordable artwork by over 60 local artists, members and non-members of the society. Over 300 paintings, framed and unframed, will be available for purchase, along with greeting cards.

For the first time, the exhibition will take place in two phases, with many paintings presented online in October and November after the town hall event.

The exhibition is part of the Royston Arts Festival and is sponsored by the Royston Town Mayor’s Community Trust Fund and Johnson Matthey.

Company chairman Richard Clayton said the company was “thrilled” to return to City Hall.

He said: “During the unavoidable restrictions of the past two years, we have taken the opportunity to gain valuable experience in organizing our exhibitions as online events.

“We received a lot of applause for these successful innovations, but looking at art on a computer screen is no real substitute for seeing it in the flesh.

“Our exhibitions at Town Hall have always been a big event in Royston’s calendar, bringing artists and the community together, and we are delighted to once again be able to contribute to the local cultural life in this way.

“As a bonus, our newly acquired skills in organizing online events mean that this year we will be able to reach a wider audience by extending the online exhibition after the end of the Town Hall event. “

The following virtual exhibition will go live from 1 October and can also be previewed on the company’s website at rasexhibitions.roystonarts.org.uk.
