The new location will have a “soft” opening on Friday October 8

Black Bond Books’ new location in Ladner Village will welcome bookworms and book lovers this Friday to peruse the shelves of their new location.

After wrapping nearly 300 boxes from the previous 15-year-old store in Trenant Park Square, the team is moving into the new store this week for their smooth opening.

The new location is larger, which can more easily host events and gatherings when it is safe to do so, and it has a whole new refreshed look, says co-owner Cathy Jesson.

“We had our eye on [the Ladner Village] for a few years because we could see the village change and that has always been enough in the heart of Ladner … [It’s] just a really good mix of stores that are out there, and we thought we would fit in there really well, ”she says.

Black Bond Books has been around since 1963 and today has six branches in the Lower Mainland, but the Ladner Store holds a particularly prominent place in Jesson’s heart.

“The way the community has embraced us and really supported us over the years, it has been built and built. I mean, now we see teenagers who, their mothers, brought them in when they were toddlers. We see the whole family, and it’s really, really wonderful to see, ”she says.

Jesson also thanks the Ladner store team, especially manager Holly Morgan, for the store’s success and connecting with the community.

To visit Black Bond Books’ new location for their early opening Friday, visit 5052 48th Ave. to Ladner.

Their inauguration is scheduled for the end of October.
