The King’s Lynn Arts Society, TASKL, is busy preparing for its new season of nine high quality conferences covering all areas of the arts.
On Thursday, September 8, the society will meet at 2 p.m. at West Winch Village Hall for an illustrated lecture “Mad Men and Artists” by Tony Rawlings, who has worked in advertising and lectured on the subject all over the world.
He will discuss how the advertising industry has, often with humor and irony, used fine art imagery in its campaigns. The afternoon therefore promises to be entertaining. Like all Arts Society lecturers, Tony is accredited by the Arts Society, a leading arts education charity with a global network of local societies. You are therefore always guaranteed to hear from an expert in the field of your choice.
In addition to lectures, the group organizes a regular program of social events for members, including meals out and afternoon teas, trips to exhibitions and interesting historical places and even vacations. .
The society has various volunteer groups working with youth, at local historic houses, and with church recorders that members can choose to get involved with. There is also a small group of enthusiastic amateur artists, who meet regularly to share ideas and paint together.
The company’s new president, Stuart Dimmock, explained, “At TASKL, we have always tried to offer more than our excellent art-based conferences. Especially after the past two years, we know how much our members appreciate the range of social and volunteer opportunities offered by membership in our society. We will always offer a warm welcome to new members.
TASKL meets once a month on the second Thursday from September to May and everyone is welcome to become a member for just £52 a year or can attend individual lectures as a guest for £10.
