The funding was originally provided to help purchase and install permanent flooring in the theater seating area of the Sundre Arts Center
SUNDRE – Having already been approved to receive funding of up to $4,000 from the Municipality’s Organizational Grants program to help purchase and install permanent flooring in the theater seating area of the Sundre Arts Centre, the Sundre & District Allied Arts Society recently requested permission to instead reallocate the fund to an emerging issue.
“Recently, the company discovered extensive damage to the building addition that serves as a storage facility, which requires immediate rehabilitation,” Linda Nelson, chief administrative officer, said at the September 26 board meeting.
She added that the organization had requested an amendment to the council’s previous motion approving funds to help cover the cost of emerging repairs.
The background to the board’s agenda included correspondence from the company, which had asked by email whether reallocation of funds would be possible or whether a completely new application should be submitted through the Organization Grants Program.
Nelson said the administration’s recommendation was to approve the request, which the adviser said. Owen Petersen is so moved.
“I just appreciate that the organization came to town for this request instead of just going ahead and spending the money,” Petersen said.
Mayor Richard Warnock echoed a similar sentiment and without further questions or discussion council passed the motion unanimously.
