Public Service Commission Briefs Stakeholders on 2022 Promotional Year Exercise


In line with its commitment to ensure excellence and professionalism in the state’s workforce, the Lagos State Civil Service Commission (CSC) has informed eligible stakeholders and agents of the program Structured Training Program (RSTP) for promotion exercise Y2022.

Speaking at a recent virtual meeting, the Chairperson of the Civil Service Commission (CSC), Ms. Olubunmi Fabamwo, said the scheme was convened to sensitize eligible officers and stakeholders on the terms of the promotional exercise. She said the Revised Structured Training Program (RSTP) was introduced last year to deepen the skills of officers and prepare them for higher responsibilities after the promotion exercise.

Ms. Fabamwo explained that job-specific training and cross-cutting issues have been introduced as part of the training requirements for eligible officers, ensuring that the 2022 RSTP year has been further expanded to improve officers’ ability to s carry out their various missions and achieve the objectives. Revealing that the CSC has engaged senior officials from various Ministry Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as facilitators for the promotion exercise, the President said that oral interviews will be reintroduced this year for officers at levels 14 and above.

“The verbal interaction will enable leaders from different Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to meet their staff and identify talent, while knowledge gaps observed during the exercise will also be promptly addressed to enhance staff confidence,” she explained.

The President has therefore enjoined all officers eligible for the 2022 promotion exercise and indeed all civil servants to embrace innovation for a fulfilling career in the state civil service.

The Permanent Secretary of the Public Service Commission, Ms. Boladele Dapo-Thomas, in her presentation, noted that the Commission had previously issued two service-wide circulars ahead of the briefing.

She informed that the Commission had also briefed the stakeholders of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), Lagos State Branch, on matters relating to the upcoming promotion exercise to ensure its success.
