The Speaker of the Lagos State Legislative Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, described Pastor Enoch Adeboye as a man divinely chosen by God to lead the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
Dr Obasa, who said this in a message congratulating Adeboye on his 80th birthday on Tuesday, added that the pastor’s leadership style has resulted in massive growth, progress and expansion in the church, making him one of of the most popular religious leaders around the world.
The President also thanked the General Overseer for his guidance to the leaders, his encouragement and his contributions to the efforts to have a peaceful Nigeria.
“We thank God for choosing you to lead the redeemed Christian Church of God. Today, as always, there is no doubt that you have been truly and divinely chosen to lead His flock,” he said. .

Tribute to Pastor Adeboye at 80
Your humility, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, a respected man of God and general overseer of one of the largest churches in the world, is second to none.
As you reach 80, I mean only God could have blessed you with such age and agility. Many people would find it hard to believe that you are already 80 years old. Your physical strength remains. I have never seen you read the Bible or any other material with difficulty, your gait confirms your strength. This proves God’s words that He would bless those He blessed. It also recalls how God blessed Moses in Deuteronomy 34:7 that even at 120 years old his eyes were not weak and his vitality never waned. Dear Pastor Adeboye, you are blessed!
Thank you for being an adoptive father to many Nigerians. Please add your voice at any time when issues arise that require your fatherly guidance or words of wisdom. Your contributions to the efforts to have a peaceful Nigeria cannot be overstated. We follow your teachings, we hear your appreciation and your words of encouragement.
We thank God for choosing you to lead the redeemed Christian Church of God. Today, as always, there is no doubt that you have been truly and divinely chosen to lead his flock. The growth, progress and expansion of the work of the gods throughout the world with you at the head of the RCCG are testaments to your effectiveness as a religious leader. It is impossible for religious leaders to be listed worldwide without your name in a prominent position. And for many clergy in Nigeria, you remain a father figure, a teacher and an inspiration.
You have been a source of encouragement to us in Lagos State. We thank you for always praying for us and for your wise counsel. We appreciate your time because you are always there whenever we need you.
To have reached 80 years on earth is significant in that it proves God’s love for you and for us who benefit from your tutelage.
