The federal government has made arrangements to hold the 2021 promotion exams for eligible candidates in the leadership ranks of the federal civil service.
Alaba Balogun, spokesperson for the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) announced this in a statement on Tuesday.
According to Balogun, the exam is scheduled for March 21-28 at the Civil Service Institute of Nigeria (PSIN), Kubwa-Abuja.
“To this end, the FCSC, in its February 10 Circular to Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), has presented explicit and comprehensive guidelines/timing on the 2021 promotion exams. The exams are intended to eligible officers at the executive level of the federal civil service.
“The commission, in its determined efforts to ensure a smooth and seamless transition between accreditation and examinations, ranked eligible candidates from all MDAs on various specified dates.
“The dates fall within the stipulated period of February 21 to March 4 for physical accreditation,” Balogun explained.
He said that, fully aware of the importance of inclusive participation, the commission had deliberately introduced online accreditation for eligible pool agents in seven pilot MDAs.
The MDAs are the Office of the Head of the Federation Civil Service, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The others are the Federal Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Office of the Inspector General of the Federation, the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, and the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing.
He added that the commission’s main objective for the additional online accreditation was to facilitate the participation of officers at the executive level at home and abroad in the exercise.
According to him, the exam will focus on knowledge of the public service, professional competence and general knowledge.
The FCSC, an extra-ministerial body reporting to the presidency, is legally mandated to conduct promotion assessment/interview for federal civil servants.
