The Creative Arts Society has announced its call for artists for its Autumn Fine Arts Festival Fine Arts Juried Exhibition held at the Downriver Council of the Arts, 81 Chestnut St., Wyandotte, from 7 to October 20.

Entries can be found at creativeartsociety.org Open to artists 18 or older. Original artwork and crafts (prints allowed for postcards and note cards and unframed artwork). No commercial molds, models or kits, no resale of purchased items. Artwork will not be accepted without a label with the artist’s name, address, contact information, title, price and medium.

No changes accepted after submission. All works must be for sale.

The committee reserves the right to reject unprepared entries and questionable work. Tables will be provided for small items (jewellery, sculpture, glass, etc.). Artists are responsible for their own insurance. Bins will be provided for the unframed artwork section of the exhibit.

Entry requirements and limits

Fine Art Entries: Artists may enter 3 pieces of hanging art and/or 3D pieces under 50 lbs. All hanging artwork and 2D AND 3D artwork will be limited to 160 inches in circumference (including cover and frame). Hanging artwork should be framed, wired from hooks on either side, and ready to hang.

No sawtooth hangers are allowed. Three-dimensional parts must be prepared for proper presentation. Photos (larger than 16×20) must be framed in Plexiglas excluding pastels.

Small works and handicrafts: 5 jewelry or handicrafts (works of art not exceeding 36 inches in circumference). Hanging works should be framed, wired from hooks on either side, and ready to hang. No sawtooth hangers are allowed. Three-dimensional parts must be prepared for proper presentation.

Unframed matted artwork: All unframed matted artwork not exceeding 72 inches in circumference should be placed in plastic sleeves. The works will be exhibited in boxes.

No copies or prints of Fine Art entries.

Registration Procedure: Complete the attached registration form(s) and mail with a non-refundable fee of $35 for non-members and $25 for members. (For Fine Art Salon, Craft Shop, and/or unframed matted artwork). Entries must be postmarked no later than Saturday, September 24.

Make a check/money order payable to Creative Art Society. Mail payments to Kris Stanek, 13396 Pullman, Southgate, MI., 48195.

Artwork delivery takes place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 1 to the Downriver Council for the Arts, located at 81 Chestnut, Wyandotte (between Biddle and First St.).

The opening reception will take place on Friday, October 7 from. 6 p.m.-9 p.m.

Fall Arts Festival Hours

  • Tuesday, 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, 11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, noon – 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Artist demonstrations: Sunday, October 9, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, October 16, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION

Collection of works: Saturday, October 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Uncollected works will be subject to a $20 holding fee.

Awards: First place, $300; Second place, $200; Third place, $100; Artist’s Choice Award, $100; Honorable Mention Award (3), $30.

Commission: 25% for the benefit of the Creative Art Society
