A KESWICK theater has been delighted to receive a community grant of £500.

The Theater by the Lake grant is jointly funded by The Arts Society Cumbria and national charity The Arts Society.

Ann Walsh, Co-Chair of the Arts Society Cumbria, presented the cheque.

“We are very happy to support the Théâtre du Lac, which has inspired and delighted us over the years.

“We especially admire your work in developing young talent and reaching out to young families and people with disabilities,” she said.

Liz Stevenson, Artistic Director of TBTL, said, “We are thrilled and very grateful for this donation.

“The work of arts organizations is so important to our communities, and we really appreciate the support of the Arts Society of Cumbria at this time.”

Before the pandemic, the theater hosted annual young art exhibitions featuring work by talented A-level students from North Cumbrian schools, organized by the society.

The Arts Society Cumbria is a member of The Arts Society, a national arts education charity, which brings people together in shared enjoyment of the arts.

A spokesman said: ‘We offer a stimulating program of lectures, organize trips, study days and social events. Our members come from all over North Cumbria and beyond.’
